VDOT Update* Jan 27, 2026

Road conditions remain hazardous and residents are strongly encouraged to avoid travel if possible. While precipitation has ended, very low temperatures will limit melting and refreezing is expected. VDOT remains at Mobilization Level 5, signifying their highest most severe response level for winter weather, typically initiated for major storms with forecasts of 6 or more inches of snow. Under this level, all available resources are deployed, often involving nearly 10,000 pieces of equipment statewide

VDOT’s plow operations are focused on interstates, primaries and secondaries, with neighborhoods and subdivisions next. VDOT’s goal is to have all roads passable within 48 hours after a storm ends. However, this may depend on the severity of the storm.

VDOT has asked that residents report any plowing issues via this portal: https://my.vdot.virginia.gov/ but please allow 48 hours from the end of the storm to begin reporting any issues.
